| In the past I would of said Mille Lacs but this year it would for sure be LOTW. There may not be as high a density of big fish but you won't have to fish side by side with other crazies all day long. No one will be casting lures right next to your boat. You won't have to fish well into the dark to even have a shot at a fish (like some days on the pond). You most likely won't have to fight huge rollers (I suppose it depends where on LOTW you'd go), and the fish in Canada are still quite dumb compared to the fish on Mille Lacs, oh yeah and I almost forgot... in canada you may have action for more than a half hour in the day as the feeding windows on Mille Lacs can be extremely short. Plus LOTW is senic and full of classic structure which can make for a fun trip even when fishing is slow. |

| 100% agree with Musky Skunk, lets not forget to mention that Mille Lacs has been VERY slow for most everyone this year... LOTW is always consistantly good, Mille Lacs is not!! |

| LOW. Hands down. SCENERY!, numbers, variation in spots, ability to dodge wind and storms, etc. Watch Pearsons video before you go (or read the book). |

| Mille Lacs has more Cons than Pros. The public accesses are bad, the fishing structure is not as much fun to fish, it's more crowded, and if the wind comes up you're screwed. That being said, it's probably your best bet for a huge fish. I've fished both, and I really don't care to ever go back to Mille Lacs again. LOTW is much more scenic, and you can catch a lot of fish and big fish if you hit it right. Last week in 4 days on the water, 10 of us put 88 Muskies in the boat on LOTW. 8 were 50+ inches. Good luck with your decision. |

Location: NYC (and many weeks in MN during summer) | Here, let me change the choices, Mille lacs or root canal.
No question about it, I'm going to the dentist!
Too many bad days (and nights) getting g blown from pillar to post.
And that you have another attractive option makes it an brainer.

| Days on Mille Lacs are often rough and tough - There are more bars on Mille Lacs (per acre) so If you are an alcoholic Mille Lacs is the obvious choice

9 fish per person in 4 days with basically a 50" fish per person. If true that is pretty amazing! How much are you asking for guide fees?!? Let's see some pics!

Two fish per day per person about average! In the last 65 days (Over the last 3 years) I have put 117 in the boat. I get $350 a day

Also, back in the day Mille Lacs was known as a numbers lake... Pressure does this I guess. |

Very true, and a blast. One guy in our party caught 7 Muskies. Three were over 50 inches and one was a 38" Tiger. The other 3 were over 44". I can send some pics if you don't believe me, but I was the record keeper of the trip and have the numbers and photos to back it up. We had a terrific time. I doubt we'd have had nearly as much fun on Mille Lacs. |

| LOTW pros: big fish, numbers, boatside action, seclusion
LOTW cons: gas prices... can't think of much else
Mille Lacs pros: BIG BIG fish, big fish, big fish, lower gas prices... did I mention big fish? lol
Mille Lacs cons: boring scenery, feast or famine (unless you are dialed in), pressure, rough water when wind picks up
LOTW, hands down. |

Location: North Saint Paul, MN | This is a no brainer in my opinion. It would be LOTW for sure. If there ever is a chance of going there you jump at it. I love spending a week up there away from the real world. The scenary on LOTW is second to none. There is nothing else like it in the world. |

| Last weekend I was on Mille Lacs for a day and a half, only caught a 41.5" pike. Had BIG fish working in various areas of the lake. One was on a reef I was sharing with 4 other musky boats and one guy I about asked if he wanted to just jump in the boat with us and fish becouse he came right at us and parked so close we had to cast parallel with one another. Later that night I worked a weed patch about the size of a school bus, immediatly raised about a 52 and a smaller 42 class fish. Excited though I was about 3 hours prior to sunset boats started parking along side of me and an hour later there was 4 other musky boats and a walleye guy (anchored) all around me. So basically 5 boats contiually worked one of the smallest weed beds in the lake in a tiny repetetive circle while all having to dodge this walleye boat in the process... talk about a JOKE. I did end up raising the big one 4 times and the smaller one twice but with all the boats I just had to camp on the fish and beat the piss out of it. To my supprise as night fell people started leaving but other guys started showing up so it stayed packed until about 11:00 when a nasty wind picked up and chased all of us off. By the way if any of you on this board where out there with me I mean no offense, its just the way you have to fish that lake with that many people on it.
Anyways, I basically could care less if I ever go back, slow year and more people than I ever remember on the lake. |

| I'm on Mille Lacs every day and would say LOTW without question. Much more to the experience than big fish. Oh yeah, the Woods has a few of them too. The ONLY "pro" to Mille Lacs is the size of the fish. All species. That's it! I could type for an hour listing the reasons that have become more evident as this season has progressed. As I've gotten older, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Tired of being cut off and tired of boats buzzing 10 yds. away in the dark at full throttle.Too many drunks on the lake too. To pull some of the stuff I've seen this season, they gotta be drunk. Maybe if someone gets killed , it'll change. Who am I kidding. The times they are a changin'. It's been a fun ride. Steve |

| No contest. LOTW. Mille Lacs is not scenic. It's wide open and boring and filled with knuckleheads like many have said. Too much pressure. LOTW is 10X bigger and beautiful. Bigger fish too. Just not the concentration or catch rates. And it's a real native trophy fishery vs stocked fish. You can fish them in their natural movements. Not only at night because of the pressure. |

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Spent a fair amount of time on both, and will echo what the majority have said.
All things being equal, LOTW.
Now, gas prices and border hassles can swing an opinion.

| Musky-Skunk,
You had to have been one of the boats circling the small weed bed in front of a resort that shares a name with a company that sells nuts and snacks. Oh no! I've said too much! Now there will be twelve boats circling that spot the next time I drive by, laughing. Seriously though, that weedbed is 125 ft. by 75 ft. and I'm surprised it hasn't been stripped bare yet this year. I drove by that night and I told the guys in my boat the size of that weedbed and we all laughed. The pressure up there that night was beyond ridiculous. That sucks. There are other spots, but it's a drag you raised those fish and then had to pound it with the merry-go-round. That wind was a big bummer that night, too. Week days and week nights are much better. Saturday night is busy. |
