As you may have read a previous post I was planning to put 65# Whiplash on my 2 reels, but before I decide I was wondering what do you use for line? Are there ones you would not use? Thanks.

Ignore the weight ratio and concentrate on line diameter as
you need something thick enough that it won't bite down on itself. Power Pro in the 80 or 100lb. rocks as does Berkely
Ultra Max.(if you can find it, not made any more). So many
good super-braids out there. I'd just experiment until you
find what you like.[:praise:]

Down to Earth,

Can't go wrong with 80# or 50# Spectron!!!
I've used this line for years with no problems.
Depending on what type of reel you are planning on putting the line on, I would go with the 80#, if that is too heavy then I would go "NO" lighter than 50#.
My personal opinion would be to "STAY AWAY" from the Whiplash!!![:0]

Good luck!

I use 80# Cortland Spectron and it is the best line I have ever used for musky fishing. I have yet to have a problem with it. It is also the farthest casting line I have ever used. My friend uses PowerPro becase he gets it for free, but he used to use Spectron and still believes it's one of the best superbraids on the market today.[:sun:]

I use Power Pro exclusively the last three seasons and it has done great by me. I troll with 50# and cast with 65#. I go a little lighter than some folks (most people cast with no less than 80#) because I fish a lot of clear water and extra depth on my crank baits is a plus for me. Only time the 50# is a little light for trolling is when I fish some Canadian waters and I'm rock bagging a lot, one has to watch it pretty close for abrasion.

I use primarily 80 pound Spectron Black Spot. Also have a few reels spooled with 50 pound in Tuff not Tuff plus.

I am not sponsored by a line company so I buy what has worked for me over the years..

I personally don't think much of whiplash either, I would opt for Cortland Spectron, Tuff or Tuff Plus, or Power Pro.

Good line is worth the price you pay for it...don't cut corners or you will eventually be sorry when it costs you a fish or two.

I was fortunate enough to buy 1000 yd spool of 60lb. ultra max just after they stopped making it and have at least two seasons left. I have tried others but I perfer the ultra max.

I have one reel spooled with Mason Tiger braid 50lb. and it works pretty good.

Anyone know where I can get more ultra max 60lb.

For what it's worth, I use 50# Whiplash on my casting (& part time trolling) rod and 80# Whiplash on my exclusively trolling rod. I haven't had any problems with the line. The odd backlash while casting hasn't been too difficult to pick out and I haven't noticed any problems with abrasion resistance. I suppose like anything else, you just have to experiment until you find something you're comfortable with.

Have to go along with MuskyFever on this one. Tried them all and none performed for me like Spectron. Whiplash was the "worst"!

Spectron is braided differently than the other Dyneema lines and, for me at least, is just about indestructable!

Ford vs. Chevy man! I Have used them all and like Whiplash the best! Ain't that funny? I use 100 lb for all applications and won't ever need to change. I have used all of them at times, and actually one rod is loaded w/ Power Pro right now because I got it for cheap, but I don't like the Power Pro nearly as much as Whiplash. They will all work, make sure you get at least 65 lb (at least 80 in Whiplash, it is thinner & stretches even less).

Cortland "Spectron" is the best by far! I use 50#-80# and have NEVER been disappointed. It casts farther and holds up better than any line I have tried. It's a little more expensive, but worth every penny!
As far as what I wouldn't use.....anything MONO!

I used Powerpro, but didn't like the lumpy flaws that I had in the spool that I bought last year, so when I heard about Whiplash, I bought a spool.I love it.It's limp,it's smooth, and it's tough as nails!

After seeing Backlash err... whiplash in action....being sliced by Power Pro....And the SNAPPING power of Cortland. I'll stay with my Tuff line. NOT sponsored by them I buy it.
