Subject: Lead core or wire??

This summer I intend to target more open/deep water to hopefully start sticking some larger fish. One presentation I like to do is troll. I have 2 8' classic cat ST.Croix rods with Daiwa line-counter reels on them. These set-ups get double duty, trolling in summer/fall and soaking suckers(not trolling them) in fall. I'm looking for a system that is easily interchangable from trolling to sucker soaking. Is a twilli tip a permanant fixture? Do you need a twilli tip for lead core also? Do you have to cut the tip eyelet off to install? Can you effectively use a sucker with lead core?

whoahh lots of questions, sorry about that but please do the best you can. Thx much.

I Leadcore here on the Niagara River for percision placement and position trolling in fast current. No tip change needed, just a reel with capasity to hold at least 150 feet of line,Okuma Titus 50L,Penn 320 GTI or ABU 7000 are good choices.Back trolling with suckers would work with Leadcore Line. But if you want to fish traditionaly with suckers and troll both,I would go with the rod and reel that you have and 80 lb test PowerPro.Then purchase crankbaits that will go deep on their own,Legend Perchbait Deep Diver, Legend Plows,Slammer Deep Diver or Hooker crankbaits.
