Location: Minn. | My brother Darrell caught a rare 49 3/4 inch and then scored his first 51 inch Muskie on a Tacklebooty's Super Cisco. Both fish stayed deep as we were fihing in 18ft. of water. The 51 made sveral stron runs before I put in the Beckman. She opened her mouth an the lure came flying out. Not sure if she was hooked or she just didn't want to let go of her meal. Winds were light and waves were 3 to 4ft from all the ski boats going around us. Had a hard time releasing her due to the waves. Released her but when she swam away she didn't swim down. Iwas able to track her down with the trolling motor and grabed her tail. She trashed but I was able to hold on and we drifted to shallow water until I was sure she would swim away. With all the boats going by was afraid she would get run over. TEn more minutes and she charged away from my hand and dove deep. WE also boated a40" a 26" and a 33" nothern. WE were supposed to be in Canada but our trp got canelled because their is a forest fire less than a mile fom the lodge and the Mounties ordered imediate evacuation. Ramond

| You forgot Larry. It was Larry, Darrell and Darrell.
Those are some fine looking fish. It's wise to take some extra time and make sure that your fish swim down when there are boats and jet skis in the area. It's worth it to babysit them for a while to be safe.
Congrats Darrell. |

I'm going to guess the near 80 degree water had more to do with a tough release than 4 ft waves. |

Location: Minn. | Surface water temps were 74 degrees after a one inch rain. Water temps the week before were 86 degrees, so we left after an hour . On ten fish, Darrell's average is a impressive 46 3/4 inches. I've only caught three one a 48" and one 52", all out of an 800 acre lake. Fishing pressure had been high until the hot weather. we've been getting up a 4:00 AM and catching them early , except for Saturday when the fish was caught at 3:45 PM. We've been catching them on Super D's (6)and Suzy Suckers(4), Three have been caught on diving cranks, Outcast, Swim Whizz, even caught one on Buchers BigFoot. Ive cast Double Ten's for about 20 hours now and have not had a notable follow or strike. Building up the forearms though. |
