Location: East Troy, WI | i believe lambeau said something about the fish on vermillion shying away when they would follow to the boat and he'd be unable to get them to figure8, i had a similar problem on LOTW this past week. the fish would follow pretty hot and heavy until it go to the boat and it would not follow the L or figure 8. didn't matter the lure, both topwaters and bucktails, fish would dart away or swim slowly away from the boat after getting to the boat.
besides trying to change speed, direction mid cast, what are some other ways to get a fish to hit that wont follow the 8 or L

| Did you try really deep 8s. A couple of the fish I had commit last year on LOTW on the 8 bit when I put the whole rod in the water. Couldn't see the fish eat both times, just felt it. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I've personally had a lot of luck with speeding up a bait if I know a fish is hot on it. I really like the cat and mouse game with topwater, especially with a topraider. Changing speed has really been successful for me along with others I know. Have really triggered a lot of fish to hit with this game.
Then another thing when throwing a weagle is if I've got a hot fish up on it, I'll really change the cadence on how I work it. In other words, jerk, jerk, jerk, pause, one real hard jerk or two. The key that I've found with the weagle is really just changing the cadence though. Don't be afraid to stop the weagle all together for a second and start the action again. I've had multiple fish with the weagle completely stopped and the first jerk after that, wham. |

Location: Rhinelander. | I don't know about boat shy? I think sound shy or spooked by a shadow of the angler moving to do the figure8. I do try to keep the sun off my back so I don't cast a shadow on casting side of boat. If they really want it they will eat it. I have observed that soon as a fishing partner yells or says there one is the fish is gone. It really seems they don't get two words out the mouth and the fish is spooked.

| Did you experience it all last week? Monday we couldn't keep em away, but.... On Saturday the barometer dropped and fish started coming in pretty lazy. Only had a couple that followed through an 8 or two then slowly swam away never to be seen again. All the others would just show up and slowly go away when you started the 8...only a couple darted. Even came back on some hot fish tonight only to have the same thing happen. Same story from a few in the k-town area. Only fish we connected with was out a ways so we didn't see the take. Quite a frustrating couple days for the amount of fish that were showing up.

| i am generally on the same lake and the fish i catch hit well away from the boat. i see very very few follow to the boat let alone get them hypnotized in an 8. the area of water i fish is about 8 feet deep max with water clarity that i can see the bait to around two feet deep depending on the light level and which lenses i have in my h30 glasses. although i always 8, i do so that i can see the bait. has anyone found on maybe certain bodies of water, even at only 8 feet deep max, that always doing deeper, out of sight figure eights have been the ticket? am i probably not seeing all those follows because of the fish staying under the bait and out of my sight?
thanks,

Location: Twin Cities | Spooking at the boat has been the story of the last month for me. Countless follows, no eaters. Very timid/spooky fish, not really super hungry. (or so it seems from my tactics) |
