| I'm not a very tall person and all these rods that have been suggested for the big double tens have been 8' 6", but I think That would be a little too big for me to completely control. What are the best actions (mod. fast, xfast) and power (m, mh H xh) for the double ten application.... What is the ideal power and action for the XX's? |

| I thought the same thing. I am only 5'7" and am using the Okuma 8'6" H. The rod is great! Not hard to toss at all and figure 8's like a dream. It seems like it has a little whippiness at the tip, but I think that helps get the baits out there, especially the Double Cow Girls. |

| Again I use the 8'6" H and it seems to work well for most baits I throw. I have NOT thrown pounders with it so I can't say there. But judging by the way it throws regular Bull Dawgs I don't think it would be all that great. You would most likely want something heavier for the really big plastics. It tosses the big blades good and works really nice with jerkbaits. It is rated to 8oz. |

Location: Madison, WI | Depending on the rod, I use an 8'6" okuma XH for XX's. Works great. The H is a great all purpose rod, but if you looking for something just to toss XX's, get the XH. You like the longer rod, it's great for figure 8'ing. Don't have to bendover. Also, when a fish follows and darts under the boat, with an 8'6" rod you'll be able to to angle bait under the boat.

| Magruter, This is my first big rod as well and am wondering if that "whipiness" I am feeling in the okuma h is a normal feeling in rods like this. Do the xh feel this way? |

Location: Madison, WI | It's the normal feeling. It's a perfect bucktail, twichbait, lighter dawgs rods. For double 10's I really like the XH, you don't have to put much effort while figure 8'ing the bait. The rod still loads up on the cast too.

Location: Ontario, California | Give an 8'6" a try. You will not want to go back to shorter rods. My wife is 5'8" and prefers to throw the 8'6" rods over the other 7 foot customs I made her.
Not to hijack the thread but the EVX-C-861H-T was designed to have a lighter tip section to aid in boatside strikes. We wanted a soft enough tip to throw the baits it is rated for and not rip the hooks out. Most of us still fish with locked drags and braided line. The softer tips help with preventing lost fish with head shakes.
The XH also has a "softer" tip for the same reasonings but can throw baits as large as a pounder without wearinging you down.
regardless of brand... I would suggest an 8'6" rod.
