Location: Lebanon,Mo | Just wondering if someone has had both units and what you prefer. My X-28C at the back of the boat is external and like it,but I would rather have internal at the front just to keep it simple up front as well as not running extra wires/etc.Thanks..Fred.

| If you are going to use the split screen up front, I think you will want a bigger screen than the 520. I have that model on the front of my boat and when the split screen, I cannot see the map details well enough to be useful. Before you buy the unit take a look at one from the same distance that you will be in your boat. Be sure to consider the problems of viewing the screen in bright sunlight. I have pretty darn good eyesight and can't see enough map detail to make use of the GPS while in the split mode. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Agreed. I've got a 334 on my bow, and am updating to a 27 to match the 25 on my console. The screen is just too small to comfortably read while standing up, especially in the Sun. Bigger screens rock, and are worth it IMO. |

Location: Edwardsville, IL | I have a 522C with the internal antenna on my bow and had a lot of trouble with it losing connection with the satelites. To keep the connection I had to orient the unit such that I couldn't see it while I was standing up casting. I bought the cables and t-connector to hook it up to the external antenna along with my 27c. It works great using the external. |
