Has anyone ever fisher the Gordon Wisconsin area? I know the Musky lakes are limited up there and I'm looking for some new water. I've been on Amnicon and have done quite well but was wondering if anyone fished Lyman Lake, the Trego Flowage or Lower EauClaire Lake? Those are the lakes currently on my radar and would love to hear what anyone thinks.

Thanks,

Mike

I fish Lyman a lot. It's a pretty easy lake to fish (along shorelines, around islands,etc). Black/Orange is a good color for bucktails or topwater. I havn't caught anything bigger than 35" there yet, I think a mid 40" would probably be a really good fish for that lake. It's considerably darker than Amnicon, so make sure you do figure 8's!

I prefer Amnicon. More of a traditional lake. Lyman is very shallow....nothing over 9 feet. Alot of 2 foot sand to run your motor onto. And darker water. Nothing too big in there though. And like Kahler said Black and Orange are the best colors on both of those lakes.

If your looking for more serious action go the extra 15 miles to the St. Louis River. But you'll need a season or 2 to figure it out:}

Thanks Guys! I appreciate the information. I'll let you know if I wander off my typical "beaten path". Thanks for your input.

Got 4 out on Amnicon yesterday before the front moved in. 3 skis in 60 minutes!!
My son releasing a 30 he got on a textbook figure 8 and a colorfully marked 32. Our biggest was a 34. Nothing big but always fun. Maybe it was because i broke out the lucky starman shirt.

That 2nd one almost looks like a tiger. There are pike in there now too..they must have migrated up from Bear where someone illegally planted them.

I thought that at first also but i was looking at the pictures of the other ones we got and they all are like that but just much more light in color so you don't see the bars as easily. I think it's just a regular barred muskie.

Lundbob,

Way to go. I'll definitely give Amnicon a try when I'm up there. A few of my nephews have never caught a musky yet so I think it's a nice place to try for some numbers. Thanks again and I'll let you know how I do when I return.
