I see alot of posts about the lowrances messin up but not many on the humminbirds
is this because theres alot more lowrance users or is humminbird more reliable.

I know of a 'bird 1197c SI that's on it's way back for a malfunctioning menu button to be repaired under warranty. My guess is Lowrance has a far greater share of the market, but with the Humminbird SI, it will shrink a bit. I ran Lowrance and still do. Now I just have the 1197c mixed in too. I like both brands for different reasons. I don't think you can go wrong with either. My $.02. Mike

I got a 997c I love it. The wide dual screen layout is awesome. I used to run a X-15 and a X-25c. The humminbird gives you the side finder, but I like the lakemaster maps better then the navionics, becaqsue the nav chips are slower to redraw. If I did it again I would still stay with the humminbird after my experience.
