| i just got off the phone with Joe up at Spring Bay Resort on Lake Vermilion.
http://SpringBayResort.com
we put the final touches on the preparations for the MuskieFirst Outing, and it is going to be exceptional!
*** there is still room for a couple more people. call Spring Bay if you want to get in on the fun and good fishing!
please note, some cabin assignments have changed to consolidate space. please check the list posted at the link below.

here's the itinerary for the week...
Saturday, 7/19
- 3pm: arrival/check-in
when you first arrive you will launch your boat and then trailers (as well as some vehicles) will be parked at a separate parking lot to save space around the cabins. resort staff will be available to direct you, help launch boats, and park trailers.
- 7pm: welcome party / map-marking
we'll kick things off right at The Landing restaurant (about 1/4 mile from the resort). plenty of people will be around to help point out some likely spots to start your fishing - be sure to bring a good map, i suggest the LakeMaster one. there will be hors d'oevres and beer provided by the resort!
we'll also be giving away some prizes donated by outing sponsors:
- Quick Signs muskie window stickers
- Okuma fishing shirts
- Live Action rubber Joes
- Beaver Slivinski Perkas
Sunday, 7/20
- 9am: lake orientation / lure demo
guide Matt Snyder will show off Llungen and Musky Armor gear, as well as answer questions about the habits of Lake Vermilion's muskies!
Monday, 7/21
- 1pm: lure demo
Rubberhairy tackle owner Eric Larsen will show off some of his products; he's also familiar with Lake Vermilion and this is another good oportunity to pick someone's brain about fish patterns.
Eric will also be giving away a couple of custom color lures used during the demo to a couple lucky participants.
Wednesday, 7/23
- 9am: lake info / lure demo
uber-guide Ace Sjoberg will also be doing a "dockside demo" of lures by H2O tackle, and HawgSeekers tackle. he'll have some lures from these companies to give away to those who are there for the demo. Ace is one of Vermilion's best, so be sure to have your questions ready for him!
- 5pm: steak fry
this will be a mid-week dinner courtesy of Spring Bay Resort. Joe says we're having a steak fry because, "if you're going to do something, you do it right!"
we will also be giving away prizes donated by outing sponsors:
- Figure 8 tackle big bucktails
- Shack Attack swimbaits
- BS Willy topwater baits
Friday, 7/25
- 7pm: fish fry / awards ceremony
we'll head back over to The Landing restaurant to celebrate the week, review the fish that everyone saw, lost, and hopefully caught, and we'll hand out some awards. make sure to bring your camera with pictures to share!
we'll be giving away more prizes:
- Musky Tackle Online gift certificates
- Stowmaster net (biggest fish of the week)
Saturday, 7/26
9am: departure
say your goodbyes to Lake Vermilion!
