DANE COUNTY (WKOW) -- From the Dane County Executive's Office:
Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, County Board Chair Scott McDonell, and Sheriff Dave Mahoney today (Friday, July 11) reinstated or expanded Slow, No Wake Zones on the entire surface of all the Yahara Lakes. The three officials noted that the storms of yesterday evening and this morning were more intense than expected and dropped more than 3 inches of rain in many parts of the County. As a result, lake levels are rising rapidly and have not yet crested.
Specifically, the Slow, No Wake Zones on each of the lakes will be:
* Lake Mendota: Slow, No Wake for the entire surface of the lake, including Cherokee Marsh.
* Lake Monona: Slow, No Wake for the entire surface of the lake.
* Lake Waubesa: Slow, No Wake for the entire surface of the lake.
* Lake Kegonsa: Slow, No Wake for the entire surface of the lake.
The orders will be effective at 5:00 p.m. on July 11, 2008.
The three officials continue to monitor the lake levels and will make modifications to these orders as conditions warrant.

| As much as it sucks having to putt-putt from one spot to the next, the complete absense of jet skis, skiers, and go-fasts more than makes up for it. We had Monona pretty much to ourselves on Monday, throwing surface baits of all things, and there was no floating crap to foul up our casts. Now if we could just do something about all that blue-green algae...

| I love no wake lakes. Yes, its tough and tedious to get from spot to spot, but having no recreational boats and no jet skies running by you is WONDERFUL. | |
