The Concept Of Anti-Karma

Ever notice that when you are FULLY concentrating on catching a skie, you never get one? When the net is free of STUFF (baits, tools, lunch?), the release tools are out, the deck is clear, the camera is ready to shoot.....the muskies will tend to stay away? The more you talk about muskies with your partner, the less chance you have to contact one. The closer you pay attention to your fig8s....the more you see nothing but water following your bait! Strange isn't it?
Therefore I have come up with a new concept: ANTI-Karma....The LESS I am ready for something to happen, the better a chance I have for something to actually occur. When I just in that "cast, work the bait, fig8, cast" then "cast, work the bait, fig8, cast" then "cast, work the bait, fig8, cast" zone....the more my mind wanders to work, or "did I bring my clothes to the dry cleaner?" or "I wonder who that is in that boat?"......the better chances become that a PIG will follow my bait and scare/surprise the s***t out of me!!! If all the release tools are in the bottom of the tool bag, the better the chances I will have to use them....and finally, more s***t in the net = we will have to use it soon!!!!
Anyone else ever feel this? That once you are totally UN-prepared for MOMMA Muskie, then she will come to you. How to deal with this? Do we get really ready early, the let it slip? Or just play the schmuck all day and do the disaster drill when needed??????????

Boro has said he "feels good about x day" several times as of late and each time has blanked. Last year he didn't say boo about forecasting fish and was killin it. Last weekend I had my biggest fish on and she should have been in the boat but I'm a doofus and lost her. After I got my bait back in the face I noticed why I had her on in the first place (Anti-Karma). It turns out my netwife was a little slow on the draw becuase my $40 HR got hung up in the net which she had to undo and then when she was trying to extend the handle she got the little button deel-eo stuck in the net bag.

For the record. Next weekend is going to suck. I'm not going to catch anything. I am so sure of this that I'm going to dull all of my hooks.

I'll let you know if this works.

Recognize we're all just surfin' space and time. There are no absolutes, except that everything is a huge miracle. Fall into your groove, "Use the Force, Luke.", and you'll, um, well....

dang, am I trippin' out or what?!

Really, in my opinion, it's a balance of preparation and instinct that boats the most fish. Or bags the big buck. Or gets the great job.

Go back and watch a bunch of old Kung Fu episodes. That chinese rascal sure knew how to use the force, eh?

A buddy of mine will actually find stuff to put in the net if the fish aren't cooperating. Pop cans, lures, pretty much anything will do. He likes to stand in the net too.

The things we do...

This weekend, I am going to show up with no net, no camera, no lucky baits, and no lucky clothes.

In fact, I might find a floating log, get naked, sit on it, and fish the whole day with a wax worm. I can't get any less anit-carma than that.

Look for me on Oconomowoc, I'll be the naked guy on the 10 foot tree with a Muskie First sticker on the back.

Slamr, I totaly desagree. Maybe when I was some amateur baitfishermen those tactics would work but now I have to not only have the release tools out but if I forget to extend the handle on the net or have the measuring devises ready I am in trouble. Sometimes weting the net helps too.

Actualy now that I think of it the last 35 pounder to visit my boat last season was at the end of the day when we decided to go through one of my baitboxes so we'd get a hit. [:p]

I will definitely enter more eating and peeing into my arsenal this year. Each has put a fish in the boat this year![:)]

Three major ones left out!

-The all too famous, partner has a horrible backlash when you hook up, and for some reason just can't put down the rod.

-Partner is changing from shorts to pants or vise versa and is falling around the boat for the net with his pants around his ankles.

All of these are so true though it's hilarious!

What is this board coming to??? Why is there all this anti- Carmel stuff? I LIKE caramel, even if it IS pronounced weird in the 'East'. It is good on apples, ice cream, and just in little wrapped chunks.

I don't see the problem, here. Am I missing something? Is caramel made from little cute anymals or something?

I try to be one with the skie's. When I get to my favorite water I usually throw them some cookies, pretzels or doughnuts. Basically trying to get their sugar levels up for chasing baits. It does work and then when I am trying to eat while casting a monster comes up. Or when you do nail that monster yell to all around! Personal favorite " Golden, I got a pig!!!!!!!!" This phrase was yelled by me a month and a half ago, and the SLAMR curse bit me and I am fishless! There is no KARMA, its called SLAMR CURSE!

Steve,
First this whole human clothing deal, and now Caramel on Camels? What's this world coming to? Next thing they will be asking for is Worral Peace? Is the middle east part of your house a war zone or something?

Steve Cady dips his net in the lake for good luck before he starts fishing.

What is that all about?[]

Jason that is called confidence, you see you wet the net so that when you catch a muskie real soon it will be wet and ready so not to remove slime of the muskie. [:p]

Slamr,

I guess there cant be Karma w/out Anti - Karma. So it does exist.

Just so you know. The # 1 rule in dealing with Karma is not to bring up Karma in a conversation(slamr is screwed). Just the metion can put you in a FUNK for weeks. Always be mindful that Karma exists on many different levels. The slightest slip of the tongue or maybe a non-karma-friendly-action can bring the Karma train to a SCREECHING hault.

Some things that are good for the Karma are:

1) Strip Bars (the worse the better) There will be NO tip.
2) Not ever talking about how GOOD the fishin IS going to be.
3) Hangovers
4) Good Beer buzz early in the Morning
5) Giant Dip of The Bear
6) A dirty boat
7) A net that is NOT ready
8) 2 Loons in the area
9) Mist on the lake
10) Biscuts and Gravy (good biscuts and gravy)
