Anyone having trouble getting their Terrova to release and go into the lake. It works fine and comes out easily, but the darn thing is stubborn about releasing from the cradle and going into the lake. (Don't suggest Armour All on the shaft, as I've tried that...its not the shaft sticking in the collar that is the problem; its the initial release of the cradle bracket that's tough to do without really horsing on it.) This is my second one with the same problem. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Thanks.

It's not the trolling motor, trust me.

Make sure you are pushing IN and DOWN on the release. I watch people struggle with mine all the time. After about 20 seconds, I go up front, and put her right down.

It's not the trolling motor.

I too had a problem and used armoral on the shaft. You need to release it to get the bottom of the shaft. Now it slides in great. Jim

Same problem here. And yes, same problem when I pay VERY close attention to the "in and down".

Mine worked very smooth for about 2 months last summer when I bought it and then I started having the same issue. I have tried slicone spray on the lock mechanism / hinge assy. and nothing has helped yet. Love the unit, sure wish they would make it on a scissors style bracket.

Called Minn-Kota...got the ol' "we never heard of that before" reply, which in part may be true but manufacturers tend to use that as default reply far too often, hence their customer service dept. was less than helpful.

For darn near $1,000 you think it would have worked properly for longer than 2 mos.

Frustrated....

I just got mine this spring and have struggled deploying it from day one. It hangs up and is tough to move with just one person. I weigh 280 lbs and I can move things when I want to pretty easily. I'm just afraid to beat on it or force it too much. And yes I do know how to push the release mechanism "in and down." I'm hoping it gets easier over time but I have my doubts.

You need to learn how to use it correctly, it is NOT the trolling motor.

So Guest..

If I had zero problems with mine for two-months and then it started hanging up are you telling me that it's operator error? What... you think I forgot how to use it or something... You talk smart...but I doubt you have all the facts.

By the way...when I asked Minn-Kota about warranty I got a run around answer, which is the first time ever I've had less than satisfactory service from them. They have been a class-act up until this last phone call and that may have been the person I was talking to...
