Okay, i have lost 2 fish on these baits. No big deal, it happens........Unfortunately, they were the only two fish i ever had hit these baits.

Anybody else have hook probs with these tails?

I've caught a bunch of pike and a smallmouth bass on one. No problems here.

Take a pliers and bend the point of the point of the hook, also I know alot of people cut the original hooks and replace them with trebles.

When I lose a fish on them it is most often because I was asleep at the switch when it came to set. I like to think I get more big fish hitting these (the smaller sizes work just as good as the big ones for me) than any other lure I throw, per hour used casting. They troll good too!

I have noticed that the hooks seem to dull easily on them. Why I don't know, maybe I over sharpen them, but it seems to happen. Might be from the leader, or hitting against other metal on the cast, but I check them often and always keep some Siwash replacement hooks on hand. I like to use a 4-5" twister tail on the back hook of the smaller sizes. A while ago they sold some under the name of Sizzler and had a silver side on the tail that really throws light. Unfortunately, I'm down to my last few and have no clue if they are still made. Phosphorescent also works well.

Sometimes it's just a streak of bad luck, where you lose fish after fish, and then it turns and you can't seem to miss. That's fishing.

Do a couple things:

1. Pinch the barbs down. These hooks have such a deep bend you don't need the barbs.

2. Bend the hook so it's off-set/ not inline with the shaft. I find I send more home that way.

I rarely miss fish on ET's, but if you have fish short-striking then put a 5/0 Eagle Claw 774 on the back. It's made the difference a couple times.
