Location: Kinkaid Lake, IL | Hire Matt Snyder for a day or even a half day. He has been on fish since opener and hooked a couple pigs. He should be able to get you on a bite quickly. Lake is still a couple weeks behind.
Good luck,

| Was up last weekend. Water temp ranged from 54 to 66. Mostly fished for eyes and smallies, east/central part of the lake.
Had a 40" nip at a floating rapala while fishing smallies. Also moved a mid 40 on a slowly worked phantom. Both fish were tight to shoreline on a sand/small rock bottom. Just regular shoreline, really.
Gas prices are hitting home up there. Those out were fishing for eyes. Saw only one boat that I could tell was throwing hardware. You'll have the lake to yourself. Water is high.
We caught lots of 12-14" eyes so the muskies will be eating well this year.

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | The water is pretty high, and the water temps are low 60's
Weeds are just stubs at this point except for the coontail.
Saw a few big fish while "exploring" with the kids this last weekend and boated a few nice pike but the muskies seem to be in a funk......Find the hottest water in order to find the hottest fish.
I'm heading up to the west end tomorrow and Fri. for a look at the water temps and weeds. I'll be in a white and burgandy Skeeter
Oh, Ya, Look up Matt Snyder for sure..... I'll be at Goodfella's in Tower Thurs. night looking for him in order to pick his brain....... (for free beer of course)
Good luck,
Jerome |

| Do me a favor. When you see Matt ask him if they are biting on a full moon at night yet. Thanks |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Thurs. I fished the west end and found 59-62* water temps. The water is still a couple of ft high and the weed growth is about 2-3 weeks behind normal.
I boated a fiesty 40 incher in about 6 ft. of water and had an upper 40" fish follow on a topwater lure in 2ft of water. Didn't see any signs of a muskie on the rocks, maybe in 2-3 weeks the rocks will be the place to fish.
Fri the wind was really blowing, went air born a few times out on Big Bay.
Didn't see a thing... The water temps were 58-60* in most places. Ran into Matt Snyder and he said things were really tough yesterday, and that he lost a nice fish on Thurs. because of a bad net job. Things need to heat up a bit before the muskies start to really chase baits. People other than me are having a great time boating Walleyes.
Later, Jerome |
