| Olympus 770 -- waterproof to 33 ft, shock proof to 5 ft, no worries about banging it around, dunking it, or rain with very good pic quality (7.2mp, I believe).

Location: Verona, WI | Olympus Stylus 300 - it's waterproof and has a remote which I love. They don't make them anymore but you can still pick them up on Ebay for about $50-$60. I fish alone quite a bit and have a RAM camera mount. Set the camera up, grab the fish, click the remote, and you have a decent picture of a fish while alone.

Location: north central wisconsin | Just upgraded from the 720SW to the Olympus 1030 SW wide angle(shock and waterproof). 10 MP rig that fits in my pocket for shore fishing or hikes, and pics are as good as from my dads SLR. |

True, it's a bit of a crap shoot when you buy "water proof" cameras, so that means you must be a diligent, informed shopper. I have had my Olympus 770SW down close to if not past the 33' max while free diving and it works the same as it did the day I bought it. I've had that camera soaked on a near daily basis in saltwater for almost three months. Not a problem. I've jumped from 30' waterfalls in the Dominican Republic with the camera in my hand... not a problem (and hitting water from that high is pretty jarring to say the least). I've knocked it off tables and dropped it in boats and still have yet to have a problem with it. Takes great pics in the water and above.
Been a great little point-and-shoot camera that takes good quality pics. That said NOTHING is bullet-proof, but if you're looking for peace-of-mind in bad weather or looking to capture cool underwater shots of muskies or family vacations to the beach, you'd be hard pressed to find a better camera (the Pentax Optio is another option to check out). |

Location: north central wisconsin | If you have an extra 50-$75, go with the 1030 shock water crush proof. The wide angle lens and slightly hifher quality processor really was an upgrade from the 7 series that I had. Just the wide angle lens alone has made most recent fish photos easier to take, and the fam pics turn out better too. Not enough point and shoots out there with a wide angle(wide angle being relative, or similar to an old 35mm film point and shoot with a 28mm lens). |

| Steve,
I know the 770SW has a burst setting which could make for some awesome action sequences. My guess is that it's a standard feature on this line of Olympus cameras, but we'll let Jason chime in on the 1030. |
