I read somewhere awhile back (not sure if it was here) about keeping mosquitos and fly's away and someone mentioned something about different vitamins you could take to help, something about if your body is lacking certin vitamins the bugs are attracted to you more.

Does anyone have any input??

My Mom owned a health food store for many years, and this was a question asked by many customers who spent a lot of times out of doors.

A stong once-per-day B-Complex vitamin will serve well to keep the bugs away.

Take it earlier in the day ... and with food. Don't be alarmed that your urine will be a bright yellow (that's a part of it).

there was an article about keeping the bugs off you in EA magazine a couple years ago. It said to take B-1 vitamen. I have been taking B-1 now for a couple years and it seems to help. Everytime im outdoors with other people they are complaining about the bugs a lot worse than I am. Not a cure all, but i believe it helps.

I read the article is EA and tried it out last year. My partner definately had more of a problem with the bugs then I had.

The biggest thing that I've learned over the years in preventing those #*^@ ankle biting flies from eating me alive is keeping a clean boat. Avoiding the spilling of pop and beer and rinsing out everything before properly disposing of it prevents in attracting them. Also, the fish slime is a call to the bugs, so either avoid hooking up, or make sure you rinse the net well after you use it.

OK--this will open things up for a bit of humor at my expense, but what exactly are you supposed to do with the fabric softener sheets?

Use a safety pin and pin it to the back of your hat. Something else that works is a Thermacell.

I have heard VERY good things about the Thermacell's. I plan on picking one up tomorrow and will post what my experience is with it.
