My buddy and I are thinking about hitting some tiger lakes in the metro for the Minnesota Opener on the 7th...just curious if anyone had any recommmendations as to the best shot at contacting a few of these "creatures"...I know it is a pretty tight lipped secret around the metro so I understand if no one is willing to share...you never know unless you ask though...thanks in advance to any advise...

Where will you be staying at while in the cities??? You could try Orchard or Crystal Lake in Lakeville, Calhoun in Minneapolis, or Lake Elmo... Thats all I can think of right now... try looking at DNR's website and see what you can find...

If you're dead set on fishing Tigers, I'd recommend Lake Elmo. Nice lake, big fish potential, and best of all...slow, no wake before noon. I wish a lot more lakes were like that.

Cedar Lake is about 1 hour south of the metro so it may be a good option if you're coming from Iowa.

cedar lake in south subburbs is the most heavily stocked tiger lake and should be warm because of its very shallow depth,,dont get confused with the other cedar lake in Minneapolis,
there are two crystal lakes in TC area with tigers one in Burnsville'south metro" and crystal in Robinsdale "north metro" both offer good chances the north metro one is very small and should be warmer,,if you go "yes" those were goldfish you saw in there swiming

hooker, used to like Crystal in Robbinsdale, seems like it's become a wasteland the last 2 years - went from the top of the list to a zero - when is the last time this lake treated you ok? pm if you prefer, not looking for any other info, just evidence there are still any fish in there. i had much better luck on the other lakes last year.

I tried it twice last year (north metro Crystal) and didn't have any action whatsoever. I did see a mid 30's fish do one of those head out of the water things. Kind of swam with it's head up for 10+ seconds...kind of like it was looking at us and taunting us. So there's at least 1.
