Location: Duluth, MN | I went ski fishing for the first time yesterday and my elbow HURTS!!! Pulling DC-10's and Cowgirls is not easy no matter how heavy a setup you have. Has anyone tried those armbands you wear just below your elbow. Do they really work? Here's one i found that looks good.

Pain will probably get less as i build the muscles back up but just wondering what others have experienced.
Thanks |

| I wear an arm band for my tennis elbow. It helps some. If its simply muscle pain you are experiencing the band won't hurt but likely (as you said) won't be necessary as you tuffin up. |

| Might sound a little crazy but my elbow pain went away as soon as I started to use the rod balancers. The forearm strap didn't help me at all. |

Location: In the slop! | If it is tennis elbow, the band will be a life saver. Also, take plenty of vitamin B. I'm wearing a band as I type this, hope to get healed up before Canada this year. |

Location: oswego, il | Great post. I notice now I feel it in both elbows. The pain subsides after I am done fishing for the day. I carry around a 30lb tool case all day in one arm and about 20lbs of stuff with the other arm. I figure that has more to do with it. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | All of the above! Preseason conditioning is definetely a plus. For me it's the brace (forearm band) and 800mg Ibuprofen when it starts acting up. You may have to change your casting technique. Go see a sports medicine specialist, i.e., take your rod & a dummy lure & show them how you normally cast. They can usually tell you what's wrong. They may even film you casting to figure it out.
good luck.

Location: Duluth, MN | Thanks for all the tips. Elbow is much better today. Just a little sore. I think i'll start doing a couple sets a day with my kids dumbells and get an arm band and see if it helps. |

Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | 2 weeks ago I recieved a shot of cortizone in my right elbow for epicondilitis aka "Tennis Elbow". My doc strongly recommended that i don not play softball, golf, bowling, tennis (havent played tennis in 20 years) for at least 3 months. I said that sucks. I guess that leaves more time to go muskie fishing. thats when he hit me with the bad news....he siad I should reconsider and try walleye fishing for the summer. SON OF A ........!!!!!!!!!! I also just bought a new matthews Drenaline for this years archery season. Doc said in all seriouosness not to pick it up until at least late september if I care for my elbow properly until then. Even then approach with caution. I dont know..... I will probably do a whole lot more trolling for muskies than ever before and see how it feels come september. Already booked/paid for a trip to Vermillion in sep. Any way I dont know how I'm going to fare this season. I know for sure that I will be down sizing and leaving the cowgirls in the box. Oh yeah I'll be sure to have extra vicatins in the boat.

| When casting I sometimes tended to drop down to a three quarters sidearm cast rather than straight overhand. Now I can feel it in my shoulder all year long. I've fixed my casting style but the shoulder twinge is still there. Anybody got a cure for that? |

Location: Duluth, MN | Yea i think i'll switch to all overhand/head casting with bulldawgs and curly sues...they are easy to retrieve. And no too bad to cast with the proper rod and technique. |

| I hate to tell you guys this but "do nothing" is a pretty effective cure for this condition. Neither go to the doctor nor put strain of the joint for a while.
