| i have both...both are good and bad on certain lakes ...i use the Nav on my console to navigate with...Lakemaster on the bow to fish with..again both are going to be off... I use them to get me somewhat close and put in my own icons and waypoints to fish with....get em both imo.... |

Location: New Brighton, MN | I have lakemaster and it works great. As I understand navionics is also good, and sometimes covers larger areas. (several states). If you fish several counties/states and move around alot, it may be more economical to choose Navionics.
It is most important to check what lakes are covered by each chip, and to what detail (close depth contours, structure, etc). Make sure your favorite lakes are included in detail on the chip you buy, and not just a blue circle.

| I've only used Navionics and can say for the lakes in Iowa I fish the maps are poor at best.
However on LOTW (Canada) and on ALL the lakes I have fished in Minnesota I've found the Nav chip to be excellent. In fact it showed many new features not found on paper maps and some that are excellent fish holding areas. It even covers lakes in MN as small as 600 acres with excellent detail... not saying some lakes I don't fish aren't covered as well. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | My Nav chips are dead on on the HD lakes here in Iowa, ( Spirit, Okoboji's, 3 Mile, Clear ect) can't comment on Lakemaster since they dont offer Iowa yet. |

| Please remember that weather you use the Lakemaster or the Navionics chips the vast majority of the maps are based on DNR surveys done in the 1950's or earlier and certainly before GPS.
Being a user of both i find that they are both excellent when they use their own HD surveys to base the map on.
Both have other strengths and weakness's overall, but if forced to choose only one I would pick the Lakemaster as I feel they do a better job marking bouys and hazards on the lakes I fish most.
Navionics latests releases may have improved and their display clarity is superior being easier to read in daylight.
