Location: New Jersey | I need advice on casting a mag bulldawg. Does everybody have the same problem i have?? about one out of every 20 casts results in the dawg all screwed up on my flourocarbon leader. I have tried casting side arm, over head, and i cant seem to get rid of the "dawgball."
What can i try?

| hello, when you cast it out. apply alittle pressure on the spool with your thumb. that will straighten it out everytime, and the dawg will land flat in the water. good luck. engineer bry a.k.a. bryan |

Location: London, England | A long (7'6"+) rod makes a massive difference, it reduces the tendancy for the dawg to tumble in mid air on a less than perfect cast. Always thumb the spool before it touches down too, as has been mentioned. Good tackle and technique will give you a 95%+ tangle free cast rate. |

| You can also untangle Dawgballs once they happen. Give it slack line, place both hands on the butt section of the rod and jerk hard upward. |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | You also need to bomb them out there and NOT make a lob cast. Also if you quickly stop the line before it hits the water, it will swing the dawg around and be facing forward as it enters the water. BOMB casts, not high in the air or short casts. Get that puppy out there! |

| I second Mike H's comment. Throw them with authority and stop it just before it hits the water with your thumb. Once you get the hang of it you will have very few problems. Don't shy away from the leader, that is not the problem. |

Location: Bloomer, Wi | I dont know about the rest of you but my dawgs always used to hang up on the top hook, with the leader. Since I started cutting off the top hook the number of "dawg balls" has greatly reduced. And seriously how many hooks do you need in a mag dawg anyway. |

I thought a bomb cast was a big lob cast. What is a bomb cast??? A lob cast is a nice and easy motion letting your rod load up and do most of the work. A bomb cast you use your own strength along with the rod to really heave the bait out there. |
