| Hello,
I am currently looking at a 94 Nissan Pathfinder (V6 3.0L) and wanted to get your guy's thoughts on its ability to tow a boat. I have an old boat (max trailer and boat weight of 1,500#) and plan on also towing a 2,500# pop-up with it. Its rating for 3,500#. Any opnions or feedback on whether I should look at a bigger vehicle would be mush appreciated. What type of SUV (need room for the kids) and what type of engine should I be looking for?
-Thanks A Lot!!

Location: S.E. Wisconsin | If your happy the way your PF has been treating you, look at the newer models 05' and up. They jump to a 4.0 liter and has a 6000lbs towing capacity. Three rows of seats for the kids and all kind of other goodies. |

Location: On the River | I have a 97 Pathfinder (V6) and have pulled my boat to the Winnipeg River system a 11 hour drive from my house I have also been to Vermillon several times with it, with no problems. my rig weighs about 1500lbs. Gas mileage is not so good though.
Last year when I took it to Vermillon twice it had over 200K on it. |

Location: Sandusky, OH | For your boat you'd probably be fine, but I'm not sure you'd be happy when towing the popup camper. My friend used to have a V6 pathfinder around the same year, and he hated the lack of power. I test drove an Xterra with V6 a few years ago and was really disappointed in the sluggishness; Nissan even added a supercharger to that engine to make it better. I guess they were disappointed too, since they replaced the 3 liters with the 4 liter in 2005. I haven't driven the 4 liter yet, but the specs are impressive.
For a small SUV that tows, you might look at the S-10 Blazers with the 4.3 L Vortec. I know they have issues, but that engine is very strong and there is no shortage of Chevys around. I hear good things about the Chevy Trailblazers with the inline 6, but haven't driven one. I have looked into older V6 4-runners before, and didn't feel the 3.4 liter was up to the challenge. There was a lot of difference between those and the Tacoma I had at the time.
Hope that helps a little.

| My neighbor pulls his 17 foot Crestliner 90 hp with a Chevy Uplander. 3.8 liter V6 from Illinois to Canada the past 3 years. Tons of power and lots of room. |
