I got my first for the year. Nice 39" fish on the "last" cast of the day. First time I ever caught either first/last cast type of fish. Hit 5 feet from the boat on a slow running shallow crankbait.

This was my first time out with the Archos cam - too bad I didn't have it on when I first tried to release this thing by hand. It took a snap at me and I was nothing but a string of four letter words. No fish.

I was watching a Musky Show the other day where a guy was throwing Northland Bionic Tails and also attempting to match the hatch, sounds like you made a good choice SVT
Fished the Fox Chain on Saturday, all follows no fish. And a lot of sunburn

Got out friday afternoon for a couple hours and did pretty well on my last musky outing before leaving Stevens point. To make a long story short we saw at least 6 and caught two in the mid 30's. None of the fish we seen were very sizeable.

I hit the water Sunday expecting a productive day. High skies shut down everything. Got on the water late and had to leave early -- got skunked. Didn't even see a fish all day. Oh well, it was better than sitting at home.

No muskie fishing as its not open yet in MN, but I was trolling a local lake with red-eye wigglers and caught 21 northerns on saturday. Most were in the 1.5-3lb range though with the biggest being 6lbs. We lost one bigger fish (8-10lb range).

we fished the Petenwell Tourney...got one nicely marked 33.5" that was too small for tourney points, but a nice tug on the line all the same.
the fish felt larger on the line than it turned out to be as if stuck it's head down into the river current right after hitting. my partner was saying it'd be "close" whereas i was insisting it was "easily" mid/upper 30s...and then i pulled it out of the net. lol...it just goes to show.
i've had a nice start to the season with 3 fish in 5 days on the water, with 2 of those coming from low-density waters; i'd love to be able to maintain that average over the course of a year, so now i'm guaranteed to go into a 2 month fishless stretch i'm sure!
it might be time to start fishing Wingra...

Tough weekend for us. Fished a flowage for bass/walleye and struggled, only put a few fish in the boat. Cold, wind and rain that turned to snow on Sunday, ouch. Sunday evening took the nephews out for some shore fishing by the resort and was pleasantly surprised to find the big bluegills up shallow and biting. Monday checked out one of my goto lakes and again the bass/walleyes were very slow. Water temp was at 57. Was throwing a Husky Jerk over rocks/wood for walleyes and didn't spot any muskies either. My guess is that we're in for a good end-of-the-week bite that should carry over into the weekend with warmer temps and nights staying above the freezing mark. Our first crack at the muskies will be this weekend on LVD and Twin for the WMT so hopefully there are a few hungry ones roaming around.

Took the family camping/fishing for the weekend. Camping was fun, but fishing was a bust - barely enough for fish tacos for supper. Dane and I went to Pineview yesterday for muskies and they're apparently starting to get active. Had 4 fish follow a Baby Wabull nearly to the boat and one had more than a passing interest in a small Esox Alien; couldn't get any of them to actually eat though. They would open their mouth and take a swipe at it (one did this 4 times one a single retrieve), but it appeared they were missing on purpose. Fun to watch, but kinda frustrating. I think I did learn a few things NOT to do...

Oh, and I helped a guy release a 42"er he got from shore on his fly rod. That was cool.

JSloan it's good to see your report on water temps. I did a double take at my locator when I saw 58° on Palmer, thought my temp gauge was screwed.
Walleye fishing up by us, three small males was it before the hail and 40mph winds hit us on saturday afternoon. Air temps dropped 15° in 10 minutes, Sunday was a wash with wake up temps at 37° with rain/snow/sleet.
