I'm thinking of trying my hand at making a glider but I need some help getting started. I have a piece of pine, I've heard this is okay to use but I'm using more out of convenience than anything. I have the shape I to make the lure and I have it cut out. I know I need screw eyes and hooks and then of course there is painting and epoxy. I was recently told that there needs to be weight added to the lure, how do I do this?

Some good blueprints and techniques. Pine will work but will require quite a bit of lead to get the lure bouyancy to be neutral or slightly sinking. You have to experiment and test to find out how much to add. Helps to tape some lead to you plug and see what it takes to bring it down. You can drill a little out to bring it back up if needed. Maple is a super choice for gliders. Really cuts down on the amount of drilling and lead melting.
