Weeeell, lets see here. First off, not knowing your familiarity with the lake, you gotta understand St. Clair is not your typical musky lake. Trolling, as you probably know, is the m.o. because the fish roam the expansive open water as much or even more than the expansive weedflats around the lake. With the little info I'm going on here, I would break it down like this- if you want to troll, hire a guide and use their specialized rigs. Of course you could still catch fish trolling yourself, but these guys are the most advanced trollers in the world. If you are going to cast, it would be slightly harder to come by a musky guide. The amount of water could be daunting, but its not hard to find weedbeds, there is virtually no other structure beyond this (a few exceptions). Here's the rundown of other resources-

A LOT of info specific to St. Clair:

Some listings of guides among lots of other St. Clair info:

I know Don Miller is one of the best musky captains. A guy who used to guide casting is Kevin Long at longcast.com, not sure if he still does.

Fished St Clair last year out of Mitchell''s Bay with Bruce Ferrell. Here''s the web site. http://www.outdoors.on.ca/fishboat/index.html Boated three, and lost at least 2 more. Plus some smallies that hit a 10" Believer!. All trolling, 12-14 foot of water, sand bottom, with a weed scattered here and there.

You might also try this one. http://www.charterfishing.net/ballsdeep/welcome.htm
I didn''t fish with him, but did talk with him on the phone. We just weren''t able to coordinate a date to go. He confirmed his rates are PER PERSON.

Biggest difference between these two is probably the boat. Bruce has a 17'' PrinceCraft, and Tom has a traditional Erie style charter boat.

I had a good time. Glad I did it. It is definately a different way to fish for ski''s.

Good luck,

Shep
