If you had to use one lure for the whole season, what lure would it be? You have unlimitied quantity and colors, but it must be the same lure. Reasons why you chose this lure would be appreciated.

I would have to say a Super D swimbait for it's versatility and ability to get to all depths.

pacemaker. I like topwater. Most fun to fish, plus the ticking hypnotizes me.

I would have to say a Bull Dawg or Suzy Sucker type lure. It can be worked as a jerk bait, straight retrieved, as a jig or even trolled. Work it shallow, deep or in between.

Perka.
I make them, so I get any color that I want.
I can fish it fast or slow, shallow or deep.
I like to take my time and fish it slow with lots of pauses so I last longer. I aint no pup no more.
This question is asked lots, and my answer is always the same.

easy - SPINNERBAIT ! - weeds, wood, 30 ft of water , 3 ft of water, day, NIGHT! - by far the most versitile bait in the box IMO.

Hey SVT, I was wondering what type of retrieve that you use on that dying fish. I never had any luck with it. My favorite go-to-lure, would be the Phirana (in a crappie pattern).  Thanks, Joe

It's crazy to think like this after spending a fortune at all the muskie shows over the winter but here goes.

Spinnerbait?
Bucktail?
Bulldawg?
Top Raider?
Suick?
Suick.....

For numbers of fish and confidence (where I fish), I would have to go with Rapala's Super Shad Rap. Easy on the body to cast. Easy to retrieve, twitch, troll, or work as a top water. If I want to go deeper, I add a in-line weight. Would have to go with Fire Tiger or maybe gold or silver chrome.

7 1/2" Grandma. Can be worked fast or slow, straight or jerked and is a good size both spring and fall. Can be trolled on open water or jerked around weedbeds.

1.Spinnerbait (2 1/4 oz. Raddog w/#8 Lakeland Willow)
1A. Curley Sue
The spinnerbait wins for it's ability to worked IN and around cover, including weeds, wood and rock. Both are great tools that can be worked top to bottom, open to close. Steve

I am sure it is the Perka, a secret bait I have not yet used. I am always sure the grass is greener. There WAS a conspiracy, and yes they were fake, nobodies are that perfect...

Once the Perka Market crashes I plan to actually get one and use it. Until then I will probably stick with the other 4-10 baits that one would class as the usual suspects

Same as Fisher, ten inch jointed Believer. 'The Second Best Bait For Everything.' There are better topwaters, there are better crankbaits, there are better trolling baits, there are better heavy cover lures, but none that roll it all into one like a Beleiver does. Got one tied on all year, and find myself using it for lots of different stuff. A wicked surface bait.

I fished with a guide on Crow lake one year and he had one lure for Crow and one lure for LOTW. One was black and orange and the other was green and yellow.
Spinnerbait, final answer.

Zig-zag bait or manta. I can work either fast or slow and the zig_zag I can let sink to a desired depth. Its just a fact glide baits work from oper till close.

Pounder. If I'm only gonna be forced to use one lure without having the ability to change for different conditions on the water, then I'm gonna use the one lure that will give me the best chance of getting some big fish.

Topwater, no doubt. I like to enjoy my fishing experience. Throwing a dbl 10 or a pounder all year? I'd rather get kicked in the groin.

I'd rather catch fish on top than any other way, just to fun.

Lee Lures water chopper for me.

Great twitch bait on top, straight retrieve, trolled to about 9ft. Crane does the same thing.

Doug Johnson has a post on here from a few years back where he put a silver and black Mepps Musky killer on a rod from the season opener until close. The lure caught fish of all sizes in every season and every weather condition. It is always the first lure I throw each season and it's a producer.

moral of the story, find a bait you have confidence in that is versatile. you have a better chance of catching a fish with your bait in the water then in the boat being put on and taken off.

looking at others post, a double ten, rubber bait (sue/ dawg) and a topwater should get you thru most of the season. Add a glider and grandma for the colder temps.

...but why then do I have hundreds of baits????????
