I recently traded my outboard for a used 2004 Merc 60hp 4-stroke tiller. The outboard starts and runs excellent, but I did notice something that I would like an explanation for. When I turn my key, there's a tone and I can hear the EFI going, When I turn my key the rest of the way to start the engine, there is occasionally another tone. I couldn't find a reason for this occasional second tone in the owner's manual. Any ideas?

The "normal" warning horns (tones) are for overheat and oil pressure (4 stroke). I'm not sure but perhaps with fuel injection there may also be a warning for fuel pressure? I have a carbuerated Yammie 75 4stroke and have warnings for overheat and oil pressure.

I've looked at the owners manual and all the warning tones listed for engine or battery problems are continuous or repeated. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I have a Merc 90HP 4-Stroke, I only get a warning tone if the motor has not been started for a while 1 week or more, but as soon as it starts the tone goes away.
