Location: Wisconsin | I bought one last spring. Added the co-pilot and I wouldn't ever go without it again. The Universal Sonar is real nice too, no transducer cord to deal with. Wish it worked with the SI though.
Only thing I do not like is the release mechanism. It's awkward to me. Overall a great trolling motor, took some abuse last summer and going strong still. I just ordered another one this spring for the other boat. |

Location: ohio | thanks, The way my deep vee is set up, the cable's on my motorguide are a pain... I liked the way the foot controller (on the v2) has that small wire that connects to the head.seems like it would be easier to manuever around . |

| Very durable so far with me. I also have the co-pilot and the Universal sonar. No Temp though which I miss.
That being said... if you are at the front of the boat 100% of the time I prefer a Minn Kota Maxxum. It seems way easier to control with the foot pedal then the Powerdrive. But if you are like me and want to give others a chance at fishing from the front then the powerdrive is the way to go. The cord is extra long or in my case I can use the hand remote to run the motor.
I also fish walleyes and its an amazing contour trolling setup. Look at this Video as an example-

Location: Pulaski, WI | I just upgraded from 12 volt Moto to a 24 volt Minn kota v2 with AutoPilot and Universal Sonar. Awesome!! the AutoPilot probably gives more 20% more casts because I don't have to be dicking around wth the foot pedal the entire time... Well worth the $$$.

Location: Hayward WI | I had a powerdrives for 10 years (2 motors on different boats). A couple of issues with the power drives- you don't have the same response in steering as with cable drives, the PD is slower. The circuit boards on the foot pedals can and will go out, about $80 to replace.
Get the universal sonar, it's worth it.
Last year I switched to a Maxxum cable drive, and other than getting used to the taller foot pedal, no complaints, and I don't think I'd ever go back to a PD.

Location: ohio | is the cables on the maxxum more flexible then the motorguides ? the cable on my motorguide is a real pain, not flexible at all, I am continually moving it around. thats why when i seen the V2, it caught my eye. seems like it would be almost like a remote controlled unit.. |
