Im just wondering if most of you keep your electronics hooked up when pulling your rig to and from the water.I have a LCX-28 w/gps on the back and a 500c up front. The water can punish your stuff alot more than the road can with rough water, etc. Im just tired of hooking up my 28 everytime I get out,but dont want to damage it as well.

For close to home trips <50 miles I keep it all on the boat,
anything over 50 miles I disconnect it .

On longer trips If i stop for gas, food, restroom I do not want my stuff out in the open wher it can easily be stolen

I never take my GPS unit off of my console. The windshield is there to protect it and I have no worries. I do travel with the screen cover on it. I do, however, take my front graph off during travel. While it takes a semi beating on the water, I just don't want to take the chance of a rock or something of that nature hitting it and wrecking it. If I am on long trips, I will pull them both off and lock them in the rod lockers, plus I have my cover on the boat to make it a little harder for someone to try and get at them.
