Any one use the okuma EVX-8'6" XH 4-12 OZ to throw DCG's and mag dawg's? or would the 8'6" H rated 1-8oz be enough? Wondering if the XH will have enough whip to cast the DCG's. Picked up the XH today and wondering if I made the right choice between the two. Both rods felt great. For $110 I think its a great rod!

I use the Xheavy for XX's, and mag dawgs. Paired with a Abu 7000 this set up works excellent. Casts a mile with enough backcone to take the hard pulling/heavy baits.

I have both rods and I would say without a doubt, go with the XH. The XH will be better for the dawgs vs. the H and only slightly lose the battle for application on the XX/DCG type baits. It's a rod that "flings" the lure, being that it is a little bit of a slower action, so it will load up on the bigger hunks of plastic, yet you can still cast a DCG well.

are these rods telescoping? For some reason i cant seem to buy a telescoping rod over a simple one-peice. Anyone have any problems with telescoping rods?

Yes they are telescoping, but no I have had not had any problems thus far with that functionality.

MuskieMike and Slamr,
Thanks for your replies! Seems like I made the right choice. Can't wait to use it May 3rd!
