I see a lot of questions about what reel everyone is using for double tens, but the trouble I am having is picking a rod to put my reel on? Any help would be appreciated.

Is the xxx a little stiff to throw 3-5 ounce blades, the rod is rated for 8-20. I just recently won one and curious if this rod is a little much for said application. It seems like big jerks and dawgs will be thrown and worked nice with this rod, I realize you can throw anything with anything, but I ask again is this rod a bit overkill.

I like a rod that is rated for up to 8oz max for Double 10-13, and always point your rod at the bait when you burn your D10-13 back to the boat. My TICA 8'6" rated at 1-8 is a great action rod for casting and burning back D10-13.

The XXX has just enough give in the tip to launch smaller tails like Gerry's Kids.
My buddy and I did a head to head "death match" testing different rods for this application (double 13's, 10's and 8's), and We agreed that the XXX was the best tool for the job, with the Legend Tourney Big Dawg Rod being a close second.
