I'm looking at purchasing a new Muskie rod. I've been looking at the Fenwick Techna AV 8' Med Heavy. I'm not sure if i want to part with $230.00 Is there a comparable rod to this in another brand name ? Musky Innovations / St.Croix/ Gander Mtn. Etc. Just a Bit Cheaper ?The reel i'll be using on it is a Curado 300 DSV. I'd still like to stick with a 8' Rod with the same characteristics.

The Gander will be the cheapest the rest all about the same cost. I had a Techna last year and loved it. Sadly it got broke and was replaced with a 7' 10 G Loomis for the same money. Thore Bros C seies or an Edge from KT Edge also about the same price or a bit less and excelent rods.

I really love my Musky Innovations rod. I recommend it. They usually run 165 to 190 depending on what baits you plan to throw. Cabelas has them on their website and I have found them to be about the cheapest, provided you want the model they have. Cabelas does not carry the entire lineup of MI rods.

Aren't Fenwick rods made in China? St Croix Premeires are a great rod for around $175.
