| Double barrel crimp and a good crimping pliers. |

Location: Southeast Wisconsin | Im not a big fan of crimping flouro due to the fact that the crimp sometimes slip. All I use for my leaders and QS rigs is 120 lb flouro, which I tie with a Uni-knot..You only have to wrap it 3 times. First I tie on the barrel swivel. I than grab the BS with a split ring pliers and wrap the other end around my hand and pull. After you crimp on the snap you can grab boath ends with pliers and cinch them tight..The nice thing about tying with a Uni-knot is that any pressure only causes it to cinch tighter rather than slip.. |

| Perfection loop knot....google it, cinch it tight, won't come undone ever and it makes nice even loops, I do it with 150# Seaguar Premier fluoro, works perfectly. Crimps can slip, tie instead. |

| I wouldn't suggest using 80 pound test or you will break it.
Also I wouldn't suggest using crimps either.
Use 130, 150, 180 or 200 pound flouro if you want to be safe. |

Location: Green Bay, WI | I agree with Plunker--a good double-barrel crimp, with flared ends, is the safest way to go once you get to 100# or more IMO. I have crimped and tested several of them and haven't seen any slippage at all, although I use two crimps on each end. But you *must* use a crimping tool that leaves a flare in the ends of the collar.
If you use the proper collars, sized correctly, and crimp them with the correct tool...it doesn't get any better. Thousands of aircraft have been flying around for years and years with control cables crimped using double-barred cable collars. They are perfectly safe and are at least as strong as the cable itself. I have seen an aircraft with a control cable tied...
