I'm wondering what this reel is capable of and what a lot of you here think it can handle. What applications will it stand out in?

Ideally, I'd like to stock it with Power Pro or that new Spiderwire.

I would definately not use the reel for large blade baits. If you throw small baits you will be fine. Expect it to fail on the larger baits.

i only use luna 300L's for everything so i can't comment on the reel part but do yourself a favor and get the spiderwire ultrabraid...i used power pro for 5 years and tried the ultrabraid this spring already and will NEVER go back...the difference is night and day...!
