| I've heard that if you power these units from your starting battery it voids the warranty. I've read my manual but could not find anything. Anybody know? |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I just got done rigging my LCX-27's and just happen to have my manuals sitting next to me. What you might have heard and this is right from the manual is this.
Warning:
The display unit MUST be independently fused with the enclosed 3-amp fuse(or equivalent), even if you connect to a fused accessory or power bus. Failure to use a 3-amp fuse will void your warranty.
That was right from the LGC-3000, LGC-Baja GPS Modules. It's on page 7 of that manual. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | Riggin up my LMS 520c, it says the same thing but no mention at all about which battery. I take that back, it did say something about expecting interference if you connect to a trolling motor battery if my spotty memory is correct. m |

| A fuse is required to protect the wiring. That is all it does. You can run your power from the battery. You must put the fuse at the battery end of your power leads, in case of a short. That way, the fuse blows, and your wiring doesn't fry and start a fire. The fuse will do nothing to protect the sonar unit. |

I was talking about the validity of the warranty and if it was going to be void. The only thing I found in the manual was the warning about using the fuse. And agreed, ditto to the fuse will do nothing to protect the sonar unit. |

Location: Duluth, MN | So how do you all have yours wired? I just have a small Eagle and have it wired to my starting battery. I can go the entire year without charging that battery. But now i just got a new 27c and am wondering if i should buy a separate battery to keep it off the same circuit. And just because it's never bad idea to have another battery. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I run an Eagle color combo and a Flasher plus the other acss,on my craking battery and no problems. I do have a 3 bank charger just in case, but have never had a dead battery while fishing. |
