I talked to my buddy Greg in Cedar Rapids IA on April 6th and he said Pleasant Creek is open now. So I would say yes Clear Lake is open as well. All the lakes in the Madison WI area are free of ice as well since earlier this week and we are north of IA.

Should be good to go!!!!

I live in Okpboji and there was guys ice fishing still earlier this week. I have heard Clear is got some open water and a few boats been out. This wind should take care of whats left, again only 2nd hand reports.

Pleasant Creek really didn't open up til last weekend. There was still ice on about 40-50% of the lake last saturday but was all gone sunday. Water temps have been in the low 40's; I imagine a little cooler up at Clear Lake. Ice out in Iowa has been odd this year. Southern Iowa was open a good two weeks before Central Iowa; Rock Creek in Central Iowa was 50% open before Pleasant Creek even started to open and they are pretty much straight east and west of each other by about an hour and 1/2. I didn't mean to get off of the subject of Clear Lake but because of the odd thaw, it would not surprise me if there was still some ice on Clear Lake. Suppose to be in the 70's mid next week so that should take care of what ever ice may be left.

Good luck at the tourny!!!!!!!!

Just drove around Clear Lake yesterday. It's been completely open for a few days now. I imagine water temps will be colder than usual for the tournament this year. Probably low 40's. Last year the muskie were already spawning so quite a bit different this year.

Forcast highs in the 60's most the week should help, and of coure 40MPH winds to mix it up.

I fished Clear Lake as of Sunday the 13th. Water temps were 36 degrees and the wind was very frigid and unpleasant. A little ice still between dodges and grandview points and in the narrows down to McIntosh (couldn't launch there).

Heres a picture just inside of ventura bay taken from the boat. Felt sorry for this deer but after making a few passes I couldn't figure out a way to free it.

Just to rub it in for thous who fished the tourny, I fished Clear for a few hours this afternoon and had a few hit and misses and one 38 in the boat. I had to give it one more shot after a few horrible days out there. Next year more wind please!
