Currently, I have some 0.062" wire for DC 10's &12's but would that be too big for DC 8's? I have the wire from my throttle cable which looks like it might be 0.051" so I suppose I could use that. Whuddya think?

A gentleman on another board told me his company uses .051 for their bucktails. If you can bend it and everything spins right, I'd reckon it works.

We use the 062". Easier to use/bend the 051" if your building them at home. Both dia wires will make you a fine bucktail!!

I use .051 for bucktails with #8 blades and under and .062 for the bigger ones. The wire in the middle of throttle cable is too soft for baits (atleast the ones I have seen) but I do use the coil from throttle cable to tie to.

My burner style and dub 8 bucktails ALL use .062. Some argue the thinner wire puts out more vibration. Maybe, but I'm more about durability and, frankly, don't think it makes that much difference. To each their own though, I guess.
