Thought you guys might enjoy this, even though it's not musky releated. Some of us must do something in the "off season". Like Steve says, it's nice to have something put a bend in the pole for a change. I invited Steve to join me on the river last Friday, and he jumped at the chance to try and cure the cabin fever blues. We landed several hog walleyes, but this one was the highlight. Steve proves that he can not only land the big muskies, but he can do it with those bottom feeding walleyes too! This one was 30 x 18, and weighed 12 pounds. Rick Lax...ready for another replica?

Nice 'eye, Steve. See, muskie guys can catch other fish...

And should once in awhile, because it makes them look less....something.

Nice fish, Steve! Big fish prowess appears to rub off with other species! Just don't cross over to the dark side...

I can't thank Tim enough for an awesome day on the water. The best warreye trip I've had. Snow and wind all day, but the fish were eating. No better cure for the "hard water blues" than jigging 'eyes on the river. June seems soooooo far away! Steve

Wow, nicely done Steve! I didn't even know the river was open; Mom and Dad haven't mentinoned it being soft yet. They live just above the bridge above the dam, at the last bend before Rice Lake.

Both Pools 2 & 4 are kicking out a TON of those piggie eyes this year. I'm thinking the lower water levels are helping out some...normally boat control is 10X harder & things are ever changing. Maybe this is the year 15# is broken? There's always at least 1 or 2 - 14#er's.

BTW, I'll have to look for the pic, but just to put things into perspective...

I released a 27" eye in Red Wing that weighed 11 lbs 13oz. Normally a 27" eye should weigh about 7.2#. That's 4.5+ pounds of eggs, or 40% of the fishes body weight!!
