Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | I went back there years ago when I stayed at Black bear Camp on Red Lake before I knew how to fish Muskies. There's a lot of fish in there, but they are pretty skiddish. Typical Canadian Numbers lake in the bush, lots of fish but no real monsters in there, probably a low 40's max for the most part. |

| I have fished it as well 3 years ago while staying at Black Bear as well. Above poster summed it up well. Lots of musky and they love to follow baits. Had 3 people in the boat and over 1 rock reef we each had musky following baits. From what I remember lots of weeds in some areas - no fish. Find rocks and that is where the fish are. We had best luck on Black and Orange spinners/bucks and some on top water. Most fish where in the mid 30's and only saw 1 fish that i would put over 40. |

| Brad, if I can find the information, I'll PM you. I've an acquaintance that guides it, and has done well on 45"+ fish there.
For the most, when I fished it, my impression was much like the two previous posters. Night fishing is is excellent, and it seemed like downsizing baits was the key for us to get the lookers to take.
I'll look for his info in the AM. |

| I fished the lake a total of 3 days in two years. I was staying at five lakes lodge on Gull Rock Lake doing some pike/walleye fishing. My first time ever on the lake and ever even trying for muskies I boated 4 and lost one on a blk nickel musky killer. The next two days on the lake were about the same resulting in 4 fish each. Two 37"ers were the biggest with a couple followers right at 40"es seen. Also boated two tigers. Pike are numerous and dumb in the lake as well.
Rock points, reeds on rock shorelines, and island saddles produced muskies. Also work around both ends of the channel between Flat and Russet lake.
Is there a boat ramp on the lake? There isn't one to my knowledge but I dunno. Fun little lake but I doubt I'll ever go back up there agian... good luck if you go. |
