I have two dep cycle batteries for my 24 volt system. One has stayed fully charged since I took them out of the boat last fall. The other lost 50% of it charge. I rechrged it a couple weeks ago and it has held the charge so far. I should be Ok with the one the lost 50%, right? I have also heard if you replace one you should replace both. Has anyone else heard that it doesn't seem right to me.

If the battery is holding a charge, I would stick with it. However, I would keep an eye on it. And for replacing both batteries, it's not necessary, however, having batteries that are the same age, there more likely to go about the same time, verses one going at one time and the other a different time.

You could also have your batteries load tested and that will tell you the life of the battery and whether or not it's good and holding a charge.

Pepper,
I would not keep either battery. Replace them both your only as good as your weakest battery. I can't stand stuff like this. It only makes things crap out quicker.
