When you guys fish a really small N>W wis musky lakes do you cast the whole lake (about 3 hrs. or just hit the spots you know like the back of your hand)? I am talking lakes that are 15 feet deep at the most and you can see the fish coming? Alot of times we catch fish in spots that there is no apparent structure at all. I think by throwing the whole lake we find active fish when nothing else is biting!!!

I fish alot of lakes fitting that description in NC WI, and fish the entire lake including the deep water on a few. I think many times if I find them out in the basin, it's because the majority are there after something they are eating.

I agree with Steve but every lake is different too and so are situations. In most cases I will fish everything. if a front is coming in or it is the end of day, I will hit the better spots. if there are alot of boats fishing then i hit spots nobody else is fishing or stay in an area that has a good spot towards the end of day.

On small clear lakes, I have always done well with topwater, even over the deepest parts...a tail prop bait has been a standout in the past...especially on bluebird days...

I would fish the whole lake. Fish can cruse a small lake to find food, as opposed to a large lake where thy might set up on a good ambush spot .There will still be better "spots" on smaller lakes, I have caught two of my biggest fish a 48" and a 52" on what I thought were secondary spots, on small Wisconsin lake.
