I have been a Merc man all my life but as I look to get a new boat soon I can't help but consider a E-Tec. BRP is outstanding. I have the Can-Am 4-wheeler by BRP and it's second to none. The Ski Do snowmobile is by BRP also and it's one of the top dogs. I believe the more you look at them the better they look. Check out www.evenrude.com for some more details.

Some of the tests they did against other motors are very eye openeing.

Mike,
Keep it real sir, by checking what Bass and Walleye Boats says about the BPP 'tests'. Can't test a 2 against a 4 and expect things to be real. Testing the 2 against the 2...Merc took the win home convincingly, but not HUGELY.

This article is a pretty good one. Bass & Walleye boat magazine brings a pretty unbiased opinion to test and can be pretty critical at times. The Optimax pretty much stands alone against other 2 bangers. Of course a 2 stroke Rude will show up a 4 stroke Verado or even the 4 stroke from Yammie. But put that E-tech against the Opti, doesn't stand a chance from what Bass & Walleye magazine found. Here is the link.

Mike,
In the case of the Promo DVD E Tec released, the comparisons are all Bombardier 2 strokes against Merc and Yamaha 4 strokes. Misleading to say the least but very well produced and marketed. The BAWB tests straightened that out, comparing 2 stroke to 2 stroke.

The Evinrude E Tec is a great product built right here in Wisconsin. Check them out against the other DFI twos, and make your decision based on price, value, and product feature/benefits.
