Alright Abu guys, I have a question. I recently acquired 2 green Abu 7000B reels. I have 2 questions.
1. What is the difference between the green "B" model, and the regular red ones?
2. One says "assembled in Sweden" on the side the other doesn't. Both have stickers on the reel seat that say " Designed, engineered and assembled in Sweden form parts manufactured in Taiwan to Abu Garcia specifications", What's the difference between these two reels?

1.) The B models have 3 bearings and the thumb rest. The b reels have the same 4.1:1 gear ratio as the red reels. The red reels have bushings instead of 3 ball bearings(two at the spool ends and one on the main gear shaft). The garcia rep i deal with (Jim Burris) said that company research proved that bushing reels outlast bearing reels since the bushings are made from a "pourous" material that absorbs oil.

2.) The reels that say assembled in Sweden were made before the ones without the stamp. The one that does not say assembled in Sweden was either assembled in Taiwan or China, depending on its production date.

That is all true, but the green reels are bushing reels and the red ones have bearings

THe 7000B was a reel that was made to put on combos and was not sold as a reel alone - only with a rod. It is basically the same as the older red 7000's as it had bushing and a non instant anti reverse along with a push button.

I agree that bushings are every bit, if not better than bearings for longevity and as long as you keep them oiled they will cast any musky bait just as well.

Joel, the red reels ARE bushing reels. I have 2 of them and they have bushings. The only "red" reels to have bearings from what i was told were the 7000C3's that were burgundy. If there are no letters after the 7000 model, with the exception of the 7000i, they have bushings. Example 7000SSC3=bearings, Abu 7000=bushings.

Abu rep told me the B had bearings (Cabelas model only though).
