I have a terrible time keeping fish pinned using a regular solid body creeper, like the Creepin Tom for example. Am I alone in this? I was thinking I need to add hook spreaders to get the hooks away from the darn wings. Would than help?

Creepers can be tough to get hooked up with as can all topwaters. Spreaders can slow the action but if used try a spreader bar that allows the spreader to move freely, this will not hurt the action as much. Also be cautious about hook size as you dont want to add too much weight. Try the creeper with the spreader on the rear then on the front and see wich gives you the action you want. Another option is to just size up the hooks and use a long shank hook like the eagle claw <lighter hooks I think the 974s> because the longer shank hooks have a better angle of penetration than the short shank hooks the Slammer Creep probably came with. Once again be cautious not to weigh the creeper down too much..Good Luck.Doug Bradley
