I have 2 reels, one is a 6.2:1 and the other is 5.3:1. I've heard that you don't want to burn bucktails with a 6.2:1 but which lures should I use? Is the 5.3:1 good enough for bucktails?

Regarding the 5.3:1, it should be OK for smaller (meaning REGULAR sized) bucks, but not for double 10's/13's. Those big, hard pulling baits will more than likely kill the gears in the reel.

Your 6.2:1 would be good for jerkbaits where you'll want to pick up slack line in a hurry. You could use your 5.3 for jerkbaits too.

This has been covered a lot with many differing opinions. My suggestion is to look on ebay for a used abu garcia 7000 series if you want to save some bucks. I have bought 3 now, and each cost approx. $80 shipped. You just have to spend a little time looking for the good deals. Don't think you will find anything better for the price.
