Why doesn't the color come off of black or green line the way it comes of of red. The red line power pro was on sale and i thought to myself "maybe red line works like red hooks," and snapped it up. Casted a few new lures with it yesterday and came home with a dyed red thumb. Note to self- stay with the black stuff from now on. I still have to test it on the fish, though!

Where did you go cast? And what is your theory about red hooks?

I used red hooks on some baits/ice leaders. Do they make the difference, I have no idea! But I like to mix it up.

Pointer:

I believe that the theory on red hooks is that Red is the least visible color on the underwater light spectrum, therefore, causing the hooks to disappear and the fish should only see the bait. Won't get scared off by the hooks.

I aint so brite, so thats bout best I can splain it.

Bret,

You are correct that red is the first color to 'disapear' under water. I was just curious if it was that theory, or if it was the theory that some tackle manufacturers would like you to believe.....that the red hooks are giving off a dying bloody baitfish. There are some unique theories out there, I was merely curious.

I like my hooks, line and leaders visible, than I really feel like I out-smarted the beast, since muskies know what hooks and leaders are! They get conditioned, remember?
