I just ordered a Lowrance X-27. Now I need to get a chip for it. I think I will buy the Navionics Hot Maps chip. The question is do I buy a new 2008 chip for top dollar or do I buy one that is a year or two old? Is there enough difference for the money. The older chips, even the 2007 versions are a lot less money.

I think you should go with the '07. I cant believe the accuracy can get much better than it already is.

I have been to their site and am leaning for the 07 Premium. How do I know what lakes are on these chips? I did not see anything on their site to help me out. Just showing me the general area(s) and the larger Great Lakes. Can I assume every lake within said area is going to be on that chip with good detail? Thanks, the gps rookie
