Location: SW MI | I want a cradle but I don't want to spend the $70-80 to get the Frabill one so I'm thinking of trying to make one. Has anyone here tried to do this? If so, what materials did you use? I was thinking of trying to make mine adjustable so it would store easier, does this sound like a good idea or should I just make it one piece? Thanks for the help. |

| I made one using two lengths of pvc pipe. I don't remember where the mesh came from. I used it couple of times and then quit. I prefer the net.

| I have a very nice cradle for sale it's not a Frabill but nice none the less comes with a kwik cover. It has been in the boat many times but never slimed. I could sell it considerable less then $80.00. Let me know if you are interested I can send photos. |

Location: Sandusky, OH | Do you fish solo most of the time? A cradle is tough by yourself, especially with a pile of fly line laying around. A net might be easier for you, despite the extra space it takes up (and cost!). But if a cradle is what you want, I'd consider using some thick-walled pvc that you can fill with foam for floatation, and also rig a leash to attach to the boat. A lot of the bait shops around LSC sell bulk mesh for net repair. Might find some nearby.

Location: SW MI | I usually fish with a partner and I would like to have a cradle for my boat for easier release/handling. Plus, I just like to build crap! |

Location: Sandusky, OH | Gotcha; I think I got you and another new name on here confused (esoxfly in the LSC area). I know he fishes solo almost exclusively; sorry I got you confused.
I actually was going to do the same thing as you, but then I tried to use a cradle solo and abandoned the whole plan. If you need any mesh for your project, drop me a PM. I bought a couple yards of the stuff last year that I won't use; it isn't heavy duty treated stuff, but you could plastic dip or tar it and be good to go. You can have it for shipping if interested.
