Mountain Muskie Lodge guide Lance Seasor stated off his season with three February pre-spawn muskies taken in water temps from 36 to 39 degrees on Tuesday the 26th.
Nothing huge yet but the big girls will be coming soon.

I fished a day down there Sunday with Charlie Thompson. Waters were still cold, barely 40, muddy to murky most places except Scotts Creek was clear(er). There were quite a few boats out, there were some fish caught. I got one that was 34 inches (shy of a 50 that is!), the little guy hit a Muskie Chicken bucktail on it's maiden voyage. Cute little spotted dude, but still my third Cave Fish and they all add up. Thanks so much Charlie for the day and Scott for the valiant effort. m

Water temps on the Cave early am ranged from 39 to 40 degrees by the end of the day they moved up into the higher forties. The water was muddy to somewhat clear at over 4 feet below summer pool. As the water warmed the muskies did too. I joined Gregg Thomas and Lance Seasor over the last couple days to do some filming for Greggs up coming video , we landed a total of 7 muskies but the big girls didn't show for us however Mountain Muskie Guide Charlie Thompson while fishing with wife Debbie landed a fat pre spawner at 46.5 inches. Charlie also got a nice mid thirties. Rattlebaits, small Cranes and smaller glidebaits took the fish. Look for the warm rains over the next few days to raise the water level and really kick off the pre spawn bite.
