Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Since the snow is still 2' deep here.....thinking about not only WHERE I'm going fish, but also HOW I'm going to fish. For me, I'm thinking fishing faster with XXs more often (Baldy, get the hint, make the kits!), 9-11" Curly Sues off the edges AND over the weeds, and trolling more often with alot of smaller baits.

| Less Walleye Tourneys for me. More fun fishing days, like the one I spent with my daughter last Father's Day. And hopefully more muskie days, too. |

More of the short duration, yet frequent trips that made my 2007 so enjoyable.
Well, there's that Vermilion thing too.
When I have my boys on the boat, we'll probably be doing More trolling; I'll be paying More attention to the graph, they'll be catching More fish. When I have a 'casting is preferable' guest along, we'll do More casting. More use of proven baits/patterns, Less exploratory stuff. When alone, all bets are off; maybe More proven, maybe More exploring, depends on my mood I guess.
I'll be buying Less gas.

| WHERE: Whewrever there is an empty seat and a guy willing to take me!
HOW:
- More deep structure/soft plastic baits for me. It's something I've avoided in the past due to a lack of confidence. I know it works, but I have to force myself to learn to do it well instead of making excuses. Casting at things you can see is great, but there's a whole world off the other side of the boat and down a few feet.
- Give the presentations I have the least confidence in a fair shake. They work, I know this. But I avoid them in favor of the presentations I feel most comfortable with. Less bucktails, crankbaits, and spinnerbaits; more soft plastics and jerkbaits.
- Jig/creature fishing -- want to experiment with this. |

Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | More fishing in 2008, if that is even possible.
I am going to be exploring a whole lot more mid lake structures this year. Rock bars and humps topping out in 15-25' will get a whole lot more attention than they have in the past. I always complain when fishing them that trolling would be alot more efficient...well efficiencies be #*^@ed I'm gonna fish them more.
I am also going to try very hard to avoid fishing in a rut this coming year. Maybe I need to make a Dick Pearson like "think card" to keep me on top of things. |

and hopefully some fishing in-between. biggest change this year is that it looks like i'll get my boat sold and move into a new rig and that's kind of exciting. more deep water structure chuckin' for me ... a return to the love of night fishing too. |

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | More of:
- Fishing since I won't have a child being born this year keeping me off the water for a month!
- Taking my daughter fishing
- Trolling in the U.P. and trying to learn this art of washing baits
- Time on lakes I have neglected the last few years due to stubborness, and impatience with certain individuals that I continually ran into
- Experimenting/creating new patterns for catching fish in deep water.
Less of:
- Sliding up shallow! There is a time for it, but generally I will force myself to stay in deep water working on new patterns.
- Sleep - who needs 5 hours of sleep anyhow! I already spend very long days in the boat, but on occasion will sleep in until 7:00 am in the morning when I don't have anyone else to be concerned about. No more slipping this year!
- Baits in the boat! Why I bring so many I am not quite sure! |

| More of: Surface baits trolled and casted, chew, batteries for the MP3 player on four day trips, chew, night-fishing, trolling higher later and later into the fall, Dwight Yoakham, BullDawgs.
Not so much of: 'Groin-Free' $14 rainsuits, sun, driving past good spots, chew, rusty hook files, un-washed soft cooler bags on 4 day trips, Full Throttle/Rockstars. |

| 1. Hopefully more time fishing with others on this board. I'd like to see how others approach it vs. what I typically do.
2. Fish more bodies of water. Besides my annual Canada trip I spend 99.9% of my time in the Twin cities metro area. |

Location: Illinois | This year I'm going to take a step back, relax and enjoy. Less tourney fishing and more time fishing at dusk with family and friends. I think I'll also fish for other species a bit more, probably smallies.
As for musky fishing, more double 10's, more bulldogs, more planer boards when I troll.
More Indy, Mad town, and GB.
Less sandbar, more Thirsty Turtle. |

Location: Hayward, WI | More new things. I want to try to get more into big soft plastics, double 10 tails, and crankbaits versus regular bucktails and topwater. I want to spend more time fishing on lakes that I know have some muskies, but have been tough to me in the past. Want to catch fish on at least one of these lakes. Spend more time fishing deep breaks and open water, midlake structure, suspended fish. Need to spend some time over the fish cribs that I have been seeing muskies on this winter. Not only do I think the cribs hold fish, they receive little to no pressure from musky fishermen. Spend some time trolling, and make it work. At certain times of the year I know I fish lakes where it will produce better than anything else, but it hasn't worked for me yet and I need to get some confidence in it.
*Catch more muskies than Joe Cal. Or at least catch more per hour than he does, because he is a fishing animal and fishes every day, and I can't compete with that (Just checking to see if you're reading this Joe ).
Less:
Less time spent fishing the lakes that typically go bad in the middle of the summer, or at least MORE time spent trying to use new tactics to catch those fish when they seem to go off the feed.
Less time spent casting to shallow weeds on stained lakes. There are times when that pattern is ON, but there are longer stretches when it is OFF. I need to realize when it is OFF and try new lakes or tactics.
Less wasting time at home when I have a day off, and then only fishing for a few hours at the end of the day. I want to put in some good solid 12-16 hour days on the water this year.
Less getting stuck in a rut and telling myself I can't catch fish on lake A because it doesn't have as many fish as lake B.
I'm sure I have more 'mores' and more 'lesses', but those are the main ones for now.

Hard to keep any tricks up your sleeve when you never wear shirts with sleeves. I do agree with you on the crib thing though, HAHA!

| This is going to be my first year of 'true' muskie fishing. I got bit by the bug like everyone else, after catching a 14inch muskie while fishing for pike/bass
Seeing that I live in prime muskie country (Georgian Bay) hopefully I'll get something a wee bit bigger! |

| More musky time on the water during the spring and fall seasons, but switch over to mostly walleye during the middle 6-8 weeks of summer.
I plan to use more live bait (like 6" suckers) on my jig/creature rod. Very slow presentation.
I want to try flyfishing for muskies.
I want to use a snorkle and fins to swim down and check out weed edges and other cover. (I want to soil my swim trunks when a 60" fish decides to follow me!) |

Location: WI | More guided trips, exploring new areas and techniques. More new people to fish with, I have a few lined up but last fall we just couldn't get the schedules lined up. More trolling, flyfishing, and gliders.
Less complaining about work while fishing with family and friends. I was thinking about how those days when I was crabby and how I never caught anything! Less buying lures and "stuff". Hard to do espicially with the Blaine show in 2 days and half of my tax return burning a hole in my pocket. Less taking pictures of fish; making their health a priority over my ego. |

Location: Albertville, Minnesota | A lot more this season. With my new job (sales/service rep for a environmental testing laboratory here in MN and WI), I get to get out alot. That and found a lot of clients that like fishing and would rather do a day on the water then golf or lunch. I get to market while doing what I do best.
In addition, any of you guys out there are environmental consultants, waste water or submit soil/ground water/ or samples, let me know on private email or something.
